For the past eight months I have been an active member of a network of selected artists, as part of the Action Learning Set chaired by Karen Watson (ESA) and Anne Cunningham (The Art House).
WYVAN, led by the Art House and ESA, set up an action learning set for West Yorkshire based, mid-established artists who are committed to further development as career artists. It included artists who have already developed an active presence in the UK and be recognised and valued in the visual arts in West Yorkshire.
Action Learning is a specific model of peer to peer support that encourages learning and problem solving, respecting the strengths and individuality of each artist’s practice, whilst making full use of the diversity of expertise within the group.
The series of meetings provided all of the participating artists with an opportunity to resolve barriers to career progression, and develop approaches to growth, learning and change in relation to individual artistic practices in a confidential environment.
