Digital Film Making Workshop

Powerlines (Still) 2007 © Victoria Lucas

This one day workshop will provide an opportunity to learn how to create a digital installation using video and sound. Through recording, editing, burning, and installing, the session will allow participants to work together to create a temporary artwork, which will be led by artist Victoria Lucas.

Participants will be guided through the stages needed in order to create a work of multimedia art; from the beginning of the ideas process through to the final outcome. Victoria will present a selection of audio visual works at the beginning of the session to inform and inspire. Each participant will then be given an activity, in which they use digital technology in conjunction with their own ideas to create a piece of work. The individual works will then be installed together, to make a larger artwork.

All digital media, including sound recording equipment, video cameras, mac computers/laptops, will need to be supplied by the host. This can be hired from Lumen if needed, and Victoria can pick up and deliver for the workshop. DVD players and television monitors can be supplied by the artist upon request.

Participant Feedback

“I had a brilliant day and would like to do more of these workshops. The pace of the day was just right.”

“A great day that was hands on from start to finish – timed very well too.  I would love to have an advanced course to follow on with, learning a wider range of techniques too.  I have been on many courses, supposedly run by more experienced folk and yours was pitched very professionally and achieved it’s practical aims.”

“It was an excellent course and I will endeavour to put my new skills into practice!”

“I really enjoyed learning a new skill and being in an environment with other creative people. It has given me lots of ideas and I’m sure skills will be put to good use. It was great meeting you too and seeing your work was a real inspiration.”

“The Bookmaking progressed very logically and it was great to make so many books.”

“Good encouragement and help when needed and could work at own level - and time for a cup of tea!”

“Fantastic!”
